People who own and run small businesses may have been overlooked in the past. Not attracted to the big budgets and sophisticated requirements of big Business, the security industry has not focused on providing small business security. Small businesses had to settle for inappropriate and overpriced security that resembled home security systems.
But there’s good news. Leading security industry manufacturers and providers are paying attention now. They’re beginning to understand that the unique needs of small business security require tailored security measures and systems.
Small business security does have one advantage. Needing smaller staff and experiencing less turnover than large businesses, small business’s risk for in-house theft is significantly less, reducing the need for inventory tracking and video monitoring for break rooms and storage areas. But small businesses still face serious risks for theft, vandalism, and violence.
Small business security needs are in many ways like those of corporations and individual Homeowners. Common-sense security measures are important. Things like removing potential hiding places for would-be thieves by eliminating blind spots on building exteriors is a basic preventive measure. Lighting the building, inside and out, makes it possible for people outside the building to observe criminal activity at night and when the business is closed. Keeping entry points clear of obstructions and shadows is important to safety and security. Installing locks with security codes for individual employees prevents entry by unauthorized people.
Exterior lighting is not only important for security. It’s an important way to prevent injuries to customers and to prevent crimes against both customers and employees outside the building. Liability insurance is a significant expense, and good exterior lighting can qualify small businesses for discounts and insurance savings. So in a way, liability insurance is a good small business security measure.
Every year, small businesses lose billions of dollars to preventable theft and vandalism. Monitored commercial alarm systems are an inexpensive and effective way to protect your small business. They’re easy to install in less than a day, and they’re easy to operate. A good small business security system will include control panels, security keypads, glass break sensors, window and door contacts, motion detectors, and sirens. Systems can be hard-wired or wireless. They can include loud immediate alarms or silent alarms that alert law enforcement without interrupting ongoing business. They can have add-ons like fire alarms and video surveillance. You can get a back-up system to assure your small business security needs are covered at all times.
If you haven’t already done it, you should ask a security professional to inspect and assess your small business for vulnerabilities and ask for a proposal that addresses them. Inherently more vulnerable to financial losses, there’s no such thing as too much security for a small business. An expert in the field can help you identify your small business security needs and create a plan that both meets your budget and makes your small business more secure.
When shopping for a small business security system provider, there are a few basic ways to select the best one for your needs. First, you should always talk to more than one company. Three or four reputable vendors is a logical choice that produces competition and gives you a variety of ideas and options. They should be willing to come to your business for face-to-face meetings. Be sure to get the proposals and price estimates in writing, and make sure the proposals are complete, including monthly charges, set-up and installation fees, and warranties. Find out if they offer training for you and your staff. Once you’ve made a commitment, review the contract very carefully to make sure it includes all the options you discussed with them.
The small business security specialist can analyze your physical layout, your internal procedures, and your vulnerabilities to help you come up with a comprehensive plan.

Do you prefer generations of pece in the Middle East or guaranteed genocide, warring, oil stoppage, poss.WWIII
McCain can stabilize Iraq, even PELOSI returns from Iraq stating AMAZING POSITIVE TRANSFORMATIONS are happening, and that our military has done grand things
If it’s abandoned, it will guaranteedly turn very very sour, Obama admits there will be genocide (he doesn’t care).
America’s interests and national security will be HOSED.
This is serious business, a power vacuum will lead to ALL kinds of domino effects and there sits Israel with its nukes and it will not stop there ( for the simpletons who say ‘let em") even if no other country got involved in a regional war, the environmental impact would devastate for 50 years after even a small scale nuclear war, worldwide.
Why go with Obama’s surrender and disaster plan instead of peace and democracy? How could he bail on Iraqis dependent upon US support to stabilize their country?
PEACE not pece
Buddha you’re WRONG Iraqis DO want us there and if they didn’t they have a democractically elected government and if they told the US to leave they would leave!! Stop lying about this, even the average Iraqi citizen realizes what’s at stake, talk to the military that are returning, they all say the Iraqis know their very future depends upon peace, not Obama’s plan to create genocide.

Not only that – but the President of Iran will finally get his long-awaited wish – the Iran/Iraq Combo country – under his rule. If Obama makes it to the White House, total chaos will follow, here and abroad.

If you haven’t heard Iraqis do not want us over there.
I think we should listen to them and leave. They rather have us leave than to stay and have a "suppose" transformation.

Amazing positive transformations! Six years later! Nice. If its so amazing two years should be enough to pull the troops out, right, not 100?

those before you got tired of hearing about vietnam. before that everyone got sick of hearing about korea and then there were 50 years of the cold war. people were only united and close during ww2. but there was the civil war and that has left deep and lasting marks.
what do they all have in common? some say it was the politicians all the time. it is always the politicians it seems. where do they come from and why do they take such terrible risks that fragment our society with crazy change. now things are worse than ever. fragmented and angry people told they must all be alike except the ruling elite.

Any pullout from Iraq requires a great deal more than just the Presidents "word".
Even if Obama gets into the White House, that is simply not a unilateral decision and one that would be hard tested by Congress. The Democrats led by Pelosi made the same promise and failed.
The risk with Obama, is in too naive an attitude about Iran, N.Korea and Russia’s latest adventurism, which is causing "cold war" mishaps.
Afghanistan, Turkey with the Kurds, South American resentment of the U.S.. Allies who aren’t there for us or provide "token" support.
His inexperience and apparent belief that "democracy" doesn’t work anymore, are a very scary prospect.

remember world war 2 ? we lost 20 and 30 thousand men , in a single day of fighting germans, or japanese. we gave a hundred million people freedom, and peace. (wich they still enjoy), through our sacrifice. we can not stop until we are done. we wont steal from them, or rape thier wealth. we will give our blood for the freedom of others. we stand for justice, fareness, AND– PEACE. we are Americans.

You’re missing the point. We are involved in a war that started over false pretences. We went looking for weapons of mass destruction. There weren’t any. It’s a war on terror, they say, but so far there’s no connection between Al-Qaeda and Iraq. The truth is this Texas oil tycoon started a war with our biggest oil supplier to drive the prices of oil to the sky domestically. Who else benefits from the prices of oil going up? Not me for certain. I’m getting a bycicle. BTW, this oil tycoon from Texas has a limo and a driver. He never has to buy oil for himself.
What we should do is make a peace treaty with Iran before things turn nasty in there, too. I mean, as long as they don’t use nuclear weapons, do we really care what they do with their nuclear energy? Same thing about Korea and China.
In my opinion, the real culprit here is the guy who told the moslims about the 72 virgins. He’s the one we should have hanged, not Hussein.

Let’s not kid ourselves–there will not be peace in the Middle East, not our idea of peace. This is not a military affair instead governmental and we need to realize this war for what it is.
Our troops have performed above and beyond the call of duty, surrender used as hype to make a point, our military is strained, recruiting is down so we send the same troops to Iraq over and over again, why? Bring back the draft– let’s see how long the war in Iraq would last if we activated the draft.

There will never be Peace in the middle east. While America buckles under the expense of a non existent country. We destroyed the infra structure with our bombs. We killed 200,000 men women and children. Every time an area the size of a US county is secured the new Iraq forces turn coat. If that area wants us to continue to protect them for the next 1000 years they should be paying for the protection.
Genocide continues to flourish in so many countries. If Israel has the nukes to protect the area maybe they ought to be occupying Iraq.
Some other solution must be found.
We can not be held hostage paying trillions of dollars on a lost cause. We could transport the women and children to safety if that were truly the concern. People suffer around the world and we feed trillions to a oil rich country that refuses to defend their own country.

You have a point. Granny S has a point. It is sad that there are many conflicts around the globe. That will be the case no matter what until The Lord Jesus Christ returns to this earth. We are in a conflict now in which we cannot pull out until the mission (whatever that may be) is accomplished. After this, we should make it a policy NOT TO INTERFERE IN THE AFFAIRS OF OTHER NATIONS. Our very first president warned us of this in his farewell address. It rings even truer today. We cannot bring peace to other nations, especially those of the Middle East, which do not desire peace. They have been fighting over there from the beginning of time and they will be fighting over there at the end of time. That is where it all started and that is where it will all end. We have tremendous resourses in this country. We should put ourselves to using those resources for our own benefit. God is trying to bless this nation and our leaders are too busy running other countrys, instead of the one they were elected to run, to receive that blessing and make things better at home. There is no easy way out. That is for sure.
