Furniture Hire Benefits Students Too!
For short term renters like college or university students the idea of buying lots of new furniture to furnish your new Home may seem a pretty pointless idea and not very practical for your situation. It can also be very expensive and you may not want to keep to a small budget due to the quality of furniture you’re receiving for the amount of money you put in.
Furniture hire can offer more to the average student household than just providing the basics. Students are often known for hosting large parties or gatherings with more people than essential seating and clear spaces that those tight quarters in apartments can’t handle. So temporary furniture, for its welcoming appearance as well as entertainment values may be just the answer.
Not only can the answer to your furniture needs be accomplished quickly for renting customers who wish to set up in a short amount of time, but many providers deliver and pick up your items within 48 hours, so it means you have minimal hassle as well.
There is so much on offer with furniture hire that they may even provide things you’d normally forget about. Common rental items that a student would require are things like folding chairs to stack away easily, chair covers for the mishaps that happen at most house gatherings, tables for extra places for Food and drink and handy extras like a sofa with an additional fold out bed and rugs and lamps to help brighten the place for your guests.
Short term hire is not the only option if you’re planning to stay in your apartments longer than you thought. Most furniture hire agencies provide the ability for you to rent your items long term so there’s no worrying about what to do after they’ve been picked up. Some places even include a rent to own alternative. The International Furniture Rental Association states “those living in an apartment for two years or less may benefit from renting furniture, while those who plan to stay for three years or more might be better off opting to buy” This may be something you can use as a guideline.
You can also do all your renting and ordering on the internet which saves even more time for the average busy student. You can search and show your housemates/roommates to discuss styles etc then all you have to do is wait for delivery, which again is of average 48 hours.
So if you’re a student and have a big cash crunch like so many others of today’s world do, why not try something that is beneficial rather than a waste of your time and start looking into furniture rental?

How often does furniture inventory turnover at a large retailer?
We’ve found furniture that we like but aren’t moving into our new house for about 6-8 months as it is being built. We don’t have any room to put new furniture but don’t want it to be gone/discontinued by the time we need to buy it.
It depends. Some retailers sell "open stock" They order Furniture, often by the container load, and sell it when it comes in. When it’s gone, it’s gone and they may or may not order more of the same or even keep the same manufacturer.
Others sell a manufacturer’s line and will have display models and inventory or order things just like it as sold. They will continue to sell as long as the manufacturer makes that model and/or they have some in inventory.
Others are "made to order" particularly upholstered furniture. You pick out the style and the fabric (sometimes from 1000s of options). As long as the fabric is available (average lifespan 3-5 years) they will make it for you.
The other thing to do is just ask the Retailer. They may know if the style is being discontinued soon. If so, you can buy it and have them hold it for you until you are ready. This may involve a storage or warehousing charge. Or you can put down a deposit and have them let you know if this is happening during the time you’re waiting.

You don’t have to go out to find such a place on this earth. Just open the door and look at your garden. Some thoughtful modifications can help you transform your garden into a place of peacefulness and tranquility.
Garden Decoration
So do not neglect your garden any more. Home gardens are great places to rest or to spend fun filled moments with family members and guests. Do whatever you can to make your garden beautiful. Then, not only people, but birds will be attracted to it and you will get the chance to watch their dainty movements and listen to their songs.
Plant seasonal trees, buy some planters that go well with the exterior of your home, install a patio awning, set a fountain up at the center of your garden, put in a swing seat at a convenient location, bring in bird feeders, bird houses and bird baths, set up an wildlife pond, install suitable fencing and finally buy garden lights to make the entire place well-lit in the night.
Next comes garden furniture. You will always want to sit and rest in your garden. Many people like to have their breakfast on the lawn in the summer. Many arrange evening parties in their gardens. So you need garden chairs, tables and benches. to complete your garden decoration.
Outdoor Furniture – Aluminium Garden Furniture
Outdoor Furniture is crafted in a different way than indoor pieces. Chairs, dining tables, benches, stools and benches are made to different specifications and styles when they are going to be placed outdoors.
Your drawing room furniture set just does not fit in your garden. Bespoke outdoor furniture specifically made for gardens should be used. Garden furniture can often stay outdoors day and night round the year. Some people don’t put a cover on garden furniture, hence it should not rust or rot.
Professional outdoor furniture makers craft the items in such a way so that it lasts and sustains the look as well. Aluminium garden furniture is a good option preferred by a lot of people for low maintenance metal furniture.
Outdoor furniture made of aluminium does not rust; you can keep it uncovered throughout the year putting little or no effort into maintenance. 2 to 8 seater sets, traditional garden benches, dining tables and chairs are all available in an aluminium option. Money invested in aluminium garden furniture is a wise investment.
Before purchasing aluminium garden furniture set, measure your garden or patio space so that the furniture supplier can help you find the right set of outdoor furniture for your garden.

What is the best way to store furniture in a storage unit?
I will be moving to TX soon and my wooden furniture will not be able to fit in my apartment. I don’t know how long I will be there, but I am planning on having my items stored in a non-climatized storage unit. I am most worried about my antique wood pieces that will not fit in my apartment.
How can I help keep moisture levels down in my unit? Are there battery opperated dehumidifiers?
What is the best way to store my wooden furniture?
Any suggestions to help eliminate the musty unit smells? How can I keep my Furniture from smelling gross?
Any suggestions in general about storing furniture?
Thank you!
Of course it is best to store in a climate controlled unit, but if you can’t you should cover the antiques with a soft cover. I would scatter dryer softener sheets liberally to control the musty smells. The dryer sheets will also repel rodents. When you finally remove the items, make sure you stabilize the pieces in your Home for a few months keeping them at a constant relative humidity before using or sitting on them.
Remember these antiques have lasted lots of years in adverse conditions. They will survive for a little while in storage.
I do not know of any battery operated dehumidifiers.
The Classic Style of Rococo Furniture
Entymologically, Rococo is derived from a mixture of French rocaille, which means shells or in Italian barocco or Baroque Fashion. The former alludes to the preoccupation with nonstructural innovations and curvatures in Rococo manner. Critics originally applied the term as a disparaging remark against what they saw as the frivolousness of the Rococo pattern of art. But when the term was taken in into the English nomenclature, it preserved the intensions of classicism both in style and old fashioned. Art historians have various thoughts about the significance of the trend in the evolution of art but it has at this moment in time been acknowledged as an outstanding component part of the scope of the art of Europe.
This Rococo trend which sprang up in France was to begin with related to articles of furniture and then little by little spread to architecture and other art forms throughout the divers parts of Europe. In 18th century England the name Rococo was employed as an description for French appreciation and modes . And then when Thomas Chippendale strated to make furniture, he finished and refined the style to metamorphose the bedrock of English furniture manufacture. Some as well relate this process to the evolving interest in Gothic art and the design of buildings.
In the period of time this development happened was in the late Victorian Period, which is the late nineteenth century and is also classed to as the neo-Rococo movement or the Rococo resurgence. The style became incredibly fashionable in the furniture manufacture and was one of the most popular trends in the Victorian age. Post-1840s every furniture maker in the England of Queen Victoria was utilizing or picking out guidance from Rococo style.
Rococo furniture is by its very nature extremely comfortable being both cozy and appealing to the eye. The designs which include a lot of carvings and lines are not too heavy in pattern or over the top. Singular features include curved legs, eye-catching backrests with built-in carvings from the natural world, like foliage, bunches of grapes, birds etc. The basis for the designs is a sensation of social class and nobility. Another essential characteristic was the ability for the furniture to be moved about easily. The furniture was essentially movable and was often used even in out-of-door parties. Many special pieces of Furniture include the fauteuil chair and the voyeuse chair.
Characteristics like detachable arms and removable upholstery cushions were utilized which had never been come across earlier. Also, from the start, the furniture was not bonded to the walls and this granted a type of floaty easy feel to the inside of a living-space. By and large, solid mahogany wood was utilized as a basic building material largely because of its strength and long-term nature. Yet another fundamental characteristic that became a part of the intrinsic decor for the time was a mirror above the mantlepiece. This further offered an magical illusion of space and made the living rooms appear more generous and lighter.
Rococo pieces of furniture will perpetually be popular with purchasers who are seeking to capture the traditional feeling but still want warmth and coziness as well.

Buying Retro Furniture
When first deciding on buying retro furniture, it is useful to know a few of the better manufacturers and designers from the period. This has been made slightly harder by the fact that an item of furniture called “retro” can come from the 1950’s through to current production items.
Once you have decided on a particular theme i.e. chromed items with glass (that can be either clear or tinted), sticking to that style lends itself to modern house or flat design. Options of various wood veneers were available as an alternative to glass offering a warmer feel and variety. The most commonly used veneer from the 50’s, 60’s or 70’s was rosewood and this was used by two of the best British manufacturers of the era. They were Merrow Associates and Pieff. Both companies produced items of the highest quality and style. Recognizing these pieces is not always easy due to the fact that Merrow rarely labeled their Furniture whereas, fortunately, Pieff did.
Condition is an important factor when buying an item as chips to glass, chrome work that is pitted or flaking or veneers peeling or missing can be expensive to rectify.
Quality leathers were also used by Merrow and Pieff offering an even wider range to choose from. There were many other designers who are now widely collected and two of the leading designers were Robin Day and Ernest Race. They both produced a vast variety of items many of which have become design icons such as the Ernest Race “Heron” chair which had bolt-on legs with a fabric covered seat. Robin Day produced a huge range which included the use of molded plastic seating.
Retro design furniture from the Fifties onwards includes many designers from the USA as well as Europe and Scandinavia. From the USA designers had a huge influence on furniture production throughout the world, possibly the most influential being Eames whose items are very collectible.
George Nelson items are also well respected for style and quality of manufacture in particular the “Coconut” chair. Its radical, triangular shape helped make it become another design icon from the 1950’s.
Scandinavian designers produced many desirable items most of which were produced in teak and occasionally in rosewood. Most of these items were labeled making their origins easy to identify. The vast majority of these being of Danish origin.
Because quite often companies producing furniture manufactured a range for domestic and commercial/office use making it hard to determine their original design function i.e. there is a very fine line between a storage cabinet for office items, files etc and a sideboard for domestic usage. This cross over of use makes it easier to locate retro furniture as many items now turn up in second hand office furniture outlets. From a buyer’s point of view, the most commonly used source for locating items is now via specialist sellers, auction houses and eBay all of which have positive and negative aspects of buying your piece of retro furniture.
My advice would be research the item, obtain a condition report and negotiate a price that both the buyer and seller are happy with.
There are so many good designers of retro furniture it would be impossible to name them all but I couldn’t finish without mentioning one of my personal favorites – Robert Heritage. He also produced a wide range of furniture – one item in particular that has become a true design icon is the “Hamilton” sideboard which is a truly wonderful piece of design and functionality.
I hope you have found this useful and if you would like any further advice, please do not hesitate to get in touch via my website http://www.ovalinteriors.com

How much do furniture sales people get paid?
How much do people that sell furniture in a Furniture store get paid? Is there a base pay rate plus commission? What is a normal commission rate?
Normally, salespeople are paid strictly on a commission basis in furniture stores. Common commission would usually run about 15% of gross profit on the item.
Now, this can change from store to store. Some pay a base salary, but usually for just a short time while you learn the ropes. After the learning period, the salesperson usually wants to end the salary and go straight commission because it pays more.
I’ve seen some stores advertise that they pay their salespeople a salary. I don’t know how that would work, but I’m thinking there would have to be something there we’re not aware of, as what would keep the sales staff from sitting on their fanny all day rather than helping customers?
Sample Cover Letter for an Office Furniture Job
It is a dog-eat-dog world out there in the job market and you need to set yourself apart early. You must be wondering how it is possible to make a terrific impression with only a piece of paper and some information. How you present that information is going to determine if you get that awaited for interview. Use some of these great tips when you start writing your superb resume cover letters. For the purpose of this article, we will use a generic job of “Office Furniture Purchaser” to illustrate the main ideas.
* Don’t use up your first paragraph with a boring introduction. Make sure that you grab their attention. Give them the reasons you are qualified right off the bat.
E.g.: Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to apply for your advertised position as office furniture. am keen to emphasize the significant points of my career from the past 15 years in the office furniture industry with you.
* Don’t use old stand-bys like “Attached please find my resume…” Your prospective employer can SEE your resume; they don’t need you to tell them it is there. Abstain from using such statements that provide no real value. If you need to refer to your resume in your cover letter, use statements like this:

* Make sure that your resume cover letter is written in an easy-to-understand manner. If you are educated, they will know that you can use big words in the interview.

* Make sure that prospective employers are aware of what you are looking for, and mention words used in the ad in your resume as things you can do. It may look blatant, but it actually works subconsciously in the minds of the prospective employer. For example, if the ad says, “seeking detail oriented and efficient time manager for Senior Office Furniture Buyer”, you want to say…
