How can I hook my PS3 up to my home theatre system?

I recently purchased a PS3 , and I was trying to hook it up to my home theatre system. It is currently hooked directly into the tv via the HDMI cable….which is by-passing the home theatre system. I wish to include the home theatre system, I attempted to use an optical audio cable from the console to the home theatre but it didn’t work…any suggestions…we would like to watch our blue-ray movies in full surround sound. Would a HDMI cable from the console to the home theatre and a second HDMI cable from the home theare to the tv solve the problems?

just plug it into your receivers inputs, audio into audio in and video into video in.

What do I need for my home theatre subwoofer?

I have a 100 rms to 3000 cap component subwoofer that I would like to use for a home theatre system. How would I power it?

THere are plenty car amps for it, however I can not find one single amp for it to use at home.

Also, how do i make it to where it can hook up into a surround sound system?

You can not use car speakers for home use. Car audio operate on a direct current and home audio on alternating current. You can burn out your speaker or power amplifier. Car audio are designed for small enclosed area, and home audio are for large area. You can buy a subwoofer for your home audio and most of them only handle up to 100 watts, which is enough for most home use. Look for brands like: JBL, Infinity, Definitive Technology, Polk Audio and Klipsch to name a few. Hope this will help you out.

What should my home theatre decor be?

I am in the process of finishing my basement and i have decided to make an area for a home theatre system everything, the whole deal speakers, tvs, xbox, playstation 3, i was wondering what colour should i paint the room, what would look good?

Do very dark walls… like a chocolate brown with a dark red curtain to wrap around inclose the area to make it very dark and intimate. Put cool comfy chairs in there with lots of floor pillows on a fluffy plush throw rug.
Do rods hanging from the ceiling with metal curtain rings so the curtains can slide easily. Use a heavy dark drape fabric to block out all light.
Be creative with surrond sound speaker placement. Really make it like a theatre. The curtains can be pulled back and left open when not in use.
The design on the walls can blend with the rest of the room.

Use a dark flat paint on the walls then use a disposable baby diaper to blot on a lighter version of the same color over the flat paint except the light paint should be a semi-gloss or gloss. This will achieve a very expensive textured effect to the paint without using a horrible wall paper or something else hard to paint over when/if you want to change the design.
Perhaps do an old Hollywood theme. Put up pics of black and white images from vintage Hollywood movies. Maybe some old movie reels hanging from the wall with real film in them. (Doesn’t matter what is actually on the film, it is just for decoration)

Take two piece of plexiglass….
Between the plexi glass make a collage of movie images such as those cut from old VHS tape boxes…. place them however you want. Glue them to a piece of paper cut the same size as the plexi glass…. then simply place it between the glass and cover with the second piece. Find a sturdy coffee table to set this on as an artistic ‘new table’.

Electronic Gadgets – the Perfect Gift Any Day of the Year

In today’s technological world, people are rushing to the mall to view the latest electronic gadgets. Who wouldn’t? These gizmos and gadgets, which range from the lightweight mp3 players and mobile phone to the extravagant camcorders and portable DVD players, have become part of everyday life.

Although you may have set your mind on certain electronic gadgets for yourself, buying them as gifts can become a different story. Of course, you have to consider the price for each item you buy.

If you shop around online or in any electronic gadgets marketplace, you will discover that there is a plethora of selection for each kind of gadget. Therefore, before looking for gifts and becoming overwhelmed by your choices, narrow it down to the kind of gadget, whether it may be mp3 players, state-of-the-art remotes, portable audio players or whichever you wish to buy, and then settle on a budget range.

When you have decided on the price range and kind of gadget to buy, determine whether you want the items to be used in the office, at home or for travel.

If you’re going to give gifts for a group and have a budget of less than Rs 1,000 for each, you may consider electronic gadgets such as the Skype Phone,Key Chain Remote,Golf Scope,Robotic Reading Light,USB Massager, and Wristband watch just to name a few.

If you can spare Rs 1,000 more, you can opt for Wireless Car MP3 Transmitter, Ultrasonic Tape Measure, Personal Air Purifier, MP3 Player and many more.

Splurge your money with the trendiest electronic gadgets

If money is not an option for you, buying electronic gadgets can be an easier task. However, you should still narrow down your choices from portables, home use and office use.

For home use, the most sought-after gizmos are PlayStation or Xbox, complete entertainment theatre systems, flat-screen TVs, e-book readers and advanced PDAs.

Choosing electronic gadgets for the office can become tricky since the gifts will depend on how formal your office runs. If your office is like Google Office, which homes hundreds of toys and gadgets for relaxation, you could also choose gadgets for home use. However, if your office has a formal setting, look for gifts that are appropriate for the business needs, like a portable presentation system or a heavy-duty hard drive.

Gadgets that are perfect for travel include spacious hard drivers, portable DVD players, portable PlayStation, the latest mobile phone and the all-time favorite mp3 players.

Regardless of what gift you choose, the receiver will appreciate your gift. Who wouldn’t? Electronic gadgets are the trend of this generation.

how do you get televisions sound to come through the home theatre speakers?

I have a phillips home theatre running to a Sony TV. The TV is surround sound capable. DVD comes thru fine, TV only operates with it’s own sound.

yes, it’s true that you have to hook the tv up to the receiver using the a/v (white and red) cables. but then you would also want to go to the menu in the tv and make sure that the internal speakers are turned off. you may also need to turn the volume of the tv up. this would be in the case that the output on the back of the tv is of the "variable" variety. if the output is "fixed" then you would not need to adjust the volume on the television. make sure that wherever you connect the tv on the back of the receiver labeled IN, you have the receiver on that function.

What is the name of the home theatre systems that are always on mtv cribs?

I’m looking into a home theatre system, and have been looking for some type of system that makes it where i dont have to have stacks of dvds. I know there’s apple tv and many others, but the memory of those are limited. i want something more, similar to the ones on mtv cribs that can hold a ton of music and movies. Do you know the name of the makers of these systems? Thanks!

Well of course most of those systems are all custom designed. But what your looking for there are a number of options that are available separately that can be used in any ones systems.

Most of these are not cheap though, I will give you another option at then end that if you are looking to do more on a budget maybe something for you to look into.

Escient: makes one of the more affordable media servers. It works pretty well not to difficult to setup, as will all of them they do require internet access to download cover art and update media information..

Kaleidescape: is making the best system right now but is very expensive. Its a amazing system

The other two lower price options are Sony and a few others make mulit disc cd and dvd players that you just incorporate into your system.

Lastly you can build a custom media server (if your good at building pc’s or know someone that is)
You can build it with as much storage are you would need and add to it as your library increases, everything is stored on hard drives no need to handle dvd’s or cd’s again once they are burned onto your media server. They quality of playback is determined by the quality of video card you use so if you are doing 1080p you will need a very good video card so keep that in mind.

I’m including links to all these options including how to build a media server if that is something you might be able to do with some help.
