When you do take out the green screen with a video it's called chroma keying. I'm not sure if it has a specific name with photo's but the process is very similar. Go into your image editing program and see if it's got a tool called magic pen or select. If so, set the tolerance to around 20, click on the white or green and press delete. Voila the original background is gone! If on the other hang it hasn't got this tool download Paint.NET. Now open up a new layer and import whatever background you want. Put this layer behind the one with the person/object on and you're done. There are loads of other things you can mess about with but those are the basics.

Here are two great 100% FREE image editing programs that are perfect for what you're doing. Paint. NET is probably the best one for beginners as it's simpler.
